Regard one another as more important than yourself (Part 1)

With our study of the book of Philippians our focus is:

"Regard one another as more important than yourself."

We are able to do this as we

  • Connect Together
  • Grow Together
  • Display Together

So what does"connect together" look like?

Connecting Togethermeans that relationships are being built. Paul says that he has the Philippian church in his heart (1:7) and longs for them with the affection of Christ (1:8). The Philippian church is deeply concerned for Paul (4:10), and sent not only financial help, but also Epaphroditus, one of their leaders.

For us, relationships are started when we greet one another during the worship service. They are continued during the Patio Talk time. A deepening of relationship can take place during Sunday School and lunch afterwards. This allows us to learn about one another, and to pray with/for one another. Another level of relationships would take place in a Life Group. These types of groups provide opportunities to invest in one another's lives. Transformation takes place in these groups as we do life together. We are able to share what is happening in our lives and care for one another. We are able to study God's Word and live out our Christianity together.

Let me leave you with a couple of questions:

  • Do you find yourself connecting with others?
  • At what level does this take place?
